With the oeuvre-exhibition 'TED', the museum shows the versatility of the idiosyncratic artist Ted Noten. Bags, jewellery, and 3D-printed objects as well as installations, projections, and photog-raphy will be on display.

The exhibition 'TED' gives the public the opportunity to take a tour through the creative brain of artist Ted Noten. The visitor begins in a waiting room and ends in a recovery room. The various cabinets and period rooms that are so characteristic of Museum aan het Vrijthof lend themselves perfectly to showcasing a different aspect of the artist at every turn. In addition, new and unknown work of the artist will also be exhibited.

TED presents thirteen thematic projects for the museum’s thirteen rooms. The projects vary in approach, style, and manifestation. It is almost as if all these works could not have been produced by just one person. On occasion, Noten assumes a persona that is much more provocative than the established artist, whereas at other times he is much more cautious than his inner jewellery terrorist would tolerate. The identities clearly have their own preferences which are expressly emphasized and interwoven thanks to the display furniture, which was designed especially for the exhibition.

For the design of the exhibition, Maurice Mentjens wanted to create a clear and balanced presen-tation. The objects of the exhibition are the main attraction, after all. Due to the limited budget, Mentjens designed simple yet monumental display objects.

Ted Noten (born in 1956 in Swalmen, Limburg) is one of the most idiosyncratic artists of the moment. His autonomous work has been extensively awarded and included in the collections of a large number of museums, among which the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and the Stedelijk Museum 's-Hertogenbosch.
